Starting February 11, 2019, AirAsia has recently announced that their company will be stopping its route to and From Auckland, New Zealand. This is done following a “period network review aimed at improving operational efficiency” – quoted from AirAsia newsroom website.
And as part of the review, AirAsia will reduce the flight frequency from 7 times weekly to 4 times weekly beginning January 29, 2019 until complete suspension scheduled on February 11, 2019.
In order to assist AirAsia guest to continue flying to New Zealand, AirAsia has recommended alternate travel arrangements in order to minimize inconvenience which is
1. Move flight
Change to a new travel date on the same route prior to route suspension on 11 February 2019, including ability to break thru flight to enable connection to/from AKL during reduced schedule, without any additional cost and subject to seat availability; OR
2. Reroute
One time reroute to alternative AirAsia X Malaysia destinations Melbourne Avalon (AVV) or Sydney (SYD) only, within 30 calendar days of the original travel date without any additional cost and subject to seat availability. If reroute is accepted, no onward flight to Auckland (AKL) will be provided by AirAsia.
3. Credit Account
Retain the value of your booking in a Credit Account linked with your BIG member account as provided by guest for future travel with AirAsia. A valid BIG member account is mandatory for Credit Account option and it can be redeemed within 90 calendar days from the date of issue; OR
4. Full Refund
Obtain a full refund in the amount equivalent to the original booking.
